Anthem is in the far-north of metro-Phoenix, about 35 miles from downtown Phoenix. It is not part of any municipality, so is “governed” by Maricopa County. Anthem construction was started about 1999 by Del Webb and continued for nearly a decade, eventually totaling about 2,500 homes. There are two distinct parts of Anthem: Country Club, which is gated, and Parkside. Both are very nice communities. Anthem is nearly 1,400 feet higher in elevation than downtown Phoenix. Average temps are about 3 degrees cooler and average rainfall about 3 inches more.
